My brother has the Trojan virus on his laptop, which is Windows XP. It says "Spyware Alert!" and he has 34 serious threats. He doesn’t have the full spyware thing, because we didn’t buy the full version. Because of this, he can only see which viruses he has, but he can’t remove them. When we click on the windows security box that pops up, it goes to the internet, but the laptop can’t connect to the internet because the laptop blocked it out due to the viruses. Help please D:

The viruses that you are seeing are fakes and the alert is trying to scare you into purchasing the rogue software. It’s a scam, please ignore the fake viruses, but you do have malware which is responsible for the alert and preventing you from accessing the internet.
You need to check out if you got TDSSserv.sys because this could be the reason for preventing you from accessing the internet. Also I need the name of this rogue software which is trying to scare you so that I can give you a specific removal guide, but in the meantime, use Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware to remove the malware.
* Click on Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc and click OK
* On the View menu click on Show hidden devices
* Browse to Non-Plug and Play Drivers and you should see something like TDSSserv.sys
* Highlight that driver and right click on it and select DISABLE
* Now RESTART your computer.
If TDSSserv.sys doesn’t exist it, then follow boopme’s first post. He has useful instructions to help you to install Malwarebytyes onto your infected computer. If you have problems loading Malwarebyes, then I will put down further instructions to tell you how to rename Malwarebytes. It’s becoming real hard to remove this kind of malware now.

Run in quick scan and you may be prompted to reboot, if it ask you to reboot, do so immediately. This program is free to use, and it’s ideal to keep this program on your desktop for future uses.

Download a free copy of Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php on another computer and transfer it to the laptop with a USB drive or even burn it to CD and install it. Run a quick scan with it and remove anything it finds.
If you have problems sent me a note.

Well what your going to have to do is go and delete everyone of them individually by using the documents folder one thing you do not want to do though is open the file containing the virus just right click and delete if that doesn’t work then its probable not going to get fixed.Next time get McAfee it cost more for a computer then it does a program

Can u connect to the internet at all, like through a regular browser? if so, Get spybot search and destroy…(do an internet search for it)…download it and run a scan. I’ve had that problem before but could still get online.
no internet? then try to reload xp in safe mode to try to get online.
still nothing… try looking at each viruses directory (example… C:\windows\program files\……) and one at a time delete them.

You need to kill the process and the dll files attached to the trojan. You need to edit the msconfig and registry to stop it from loading startup. Here is a good tutorial:

A Trojan virus is faulty computer program that can infect remote computers by changing the desktop or deleting important files. Generally called a Trojan Horse, it appears as a legitimate file or software from a trusted source, therefore tricking users into opening it or downloading it.
