I accidently downloaded a exe file called setup. As soon as I downloaded it McAfee asked to block and remove it because it was "Adware-Loudmo.q". When it tried it could and said that I had to delete it from the "Add or Remove programs". I tried deleting but it says I need permission to do that. I am the admin of the computer.

Trend Micro Antivirus (subscription ran out..) found and quarantined these files:

Gvhlp.dll and Gvutil.dll are from Gamevance, which was previously installed on our computer…but now i cant find the files that are infected. When i go to Program Files, there is no "Gamevance" folder.

So anyways…please help! Just walk me through it. Tell me what to do, and i will. Thanks so much!

just got a trojan adware.w32.expdwnldr virus which keeps popping up a system alert saying I have to pay for anti spyware to fix it. I’ve read that people have downloaded and removed it with spynomore, so i payed dollars did a full system scan deleted and removed any trojan viruses that were found. I’ve restarted the computer several times and also tryed different programs like kaspersky, super anti virus remove, registry cleaner, and trojan removed. Still no luck. All it really did was cut down on popups and the alert doesn’t pop up as much, but it still does. I want to get rid of for good! Please help me!

I HAD A VIRUS IT WAS CALLED VISTA DEFENDER VIRUS (the virus was sooo bad it didint let me get on the internet and it was sending alerts and all that stuff) SO I USE SUPER ANTI ADWARE To get rid of it (AND SUPER ANTI SPYWARE FOUND A TROGAN ROUGE VIRUS AND SOME ADWARE…So after they found it they said do you wont to Restart Your Computer do get all of the decteted virus’s they found out..so i restarted it and now i cant open programs like windows movie maker,sony vegas my virus programs etc and even the internet (idk how i even got on this lol) the only time it would work {LIKE SONY VEGAS AND VIRUS SOFTWARE IS WHEN I RUN AS run as administrator} BUT THE INTERNET STILL SAYS LIKE STUFF LIKE CHOOSE THE PROGRAM YOU WANT TO USE TO OPEN THIS FILE {FILE IEXPLORE.EXE} JUST LIKE THE OTHER PROGRAMS WHEN I JUST CLICK IT!!!!!!!!!

SO IS MY VIRUS GONE??

AND IF IT IS HAS THE VIRUS MESSED UP THE REGISTRY OR SOMETHING?

This program is scanning my laptop and so far has found 450 Adware.Tracking Cookies and 1Trojan.Dropper/Gen. I know it is possible to get rid of them, I got rid of tracking cookies with it earlier today…how do I do this…please and thankyou before my computer dies I also downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware I am about 40 minutes into this scan and have 11 infected items. : /

Linkmaker, Mrfindalot Hijack and Forethought specifically. I was having issues with spyware/adware so I bought a program to detect and quarantine them. I still, however cannot get these 3 of of my harddrive and they aer causing issues with my internet. When I try to quarantine them my computer crashes…. Any suggestions?
The spyware isn’t a program on my add/remove in the control panel. They have somehow latched on to the memory (Not history or cookies) in my computer. Whe I try to serach for any of the keywords in the search bar on the internet the internet crashes. I am using AdAware and Spy Sweeper and I just downloaded and addition pop up blocker – still to no avail….
Yourseverlasting: this sounded like the best chance to remove the software but when I pulled up my task manager it was just the little box that shows the green area with the moving bars to show the CPU Usage, no other tabs, not other options – I know it’s not supposed to looklike that and I should be able to manipulate the programs that are running and I can’t even close it without rebooting – even with the reboot – still nothing…

What does this mean?
Its’ a Java update program which is the trojan virus.
Then I have an adware that says cannot be disinfected. So how do I fix these to rid of these?

i got it from some myspace website. I have Spysweeper, Norton, and Adware and they all can track it but none of them can delete it or quarentine it. so how do i actually get rid of it? i’m afraid it may spread.

My desktop (OS: Windows XP-SP2) is suffering from a trojan. Tried both Adware and SpyDoctor. Both were able to detect infections, but neither was able to remove the bug.

Symptoms in detail:
1) The bug sets IE home page to http://www.qqshow-qq.cn/qq.asp.
2) It opens up an IE window every 30 minutes.

What I have done:
1) Re-set IE home page -> did not resolve it. The bug always takes over again.
2) Un-installed IE from ‘Remove software’ in the Control panel. However, symptoms ##1&2 both remain.

Other browsers (FireFox, Safari, Netscape) do not seem to be affected.

It seems like a brand-new bug. At the end of scanning, AdWare asked to report a suspicious process from my PC (which I think is caused by this bug) to its data base.

I tried Mind Doctor’s suggestion. The tool from http://www.superantispyware.com seems to have made a step forward in the right direction, but also failed to remove the bug in the following way:

It produced a window ‘Home Page Change Detected’ which says ‘SUPERSpyware has detected that your browser home page has been changed. If you did not make this change, you may have spyware or adware on your system’, and the new home page for IE is shown as http://www.qqshow-qq.cn/qq.asp, the one I’ve been trying so hard to remove. My clicking ‘Block change’ could not really block it. The annoying phantom IE window still keeps appearing every 30 minutes.

More ideas please!!
Finally found a tool that was able to get rid of the bug – ‘AVG Anti-Virus’. What a relief!!
